Councilors of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) met Urban Development and Housing Department (UDH) minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal on Thursday complaining about few of the decisions which were recently taken by JMC commissioner Vijay Pal Singh.

Despite the Model Code of Conduct in place, Singh reportedly gave charge of the higher ranked posts to junior officials by surpassing senior officials. Councilors said that this is an arbitrary move by the commissioner to favor a few officials. The main issue is that a junior engineer was given charge of an executive engineer and a revenue inspector was given a charge of a revenue officer. Both the officials already had many senior officials above them who were overlooked.
Bhagwat Singh Deval, chairman of the building planning committee at JMC, also amongst the councilors who met the minister said “This is an arbitrary decision taken by the JMC commissioner Vijay Pal Singh. Many senior officials there were overlooked. This is injustice and it is a misuse of power given under model code of conduct.”
Senior officials at JMC are not happy with the decision. Though no one had registered any complaint against the JMC commissioner directly till now. Though they have they have opposed the decision in a low tone.
Another councilor said that corruption charges were also made against the junior engineer who was given the charge of an executive engineer. An ACB inquiry is also registered against him. This is one of the rarest incidences when such poor decision was taken.
After so many raised opposition and pressure from the upper level of ministry, V.P.Singh finally took back his order by the evening.
