Jaipur Wax Museum is the world’s first wax museum to be installed at a heritage site
Jaipur Wax Museum finally throws open its doors to people on the 17th of December 2016. Movie Veteran, actor Govinda will be in town to inaugurate the museum located at Nahargarh fort. Here is something exciting to add to the list of things to see in Jaipur!
Jaipur Wax Museum is the 1st ever International standard Museum situated at the heritage place Nahargarh Fort, stands on the edge of the Aravalli hills.
Among the many beautiful architectural marvels, is the Jaipur’s defense fortress built at the highest point of the Aravallis – The Nahargarh Fort. Nahargarh, translated as ‘the abode of the tigers’, is an 18th century Indian-European architectural marvel that still stands strong and gives panoramic views of the city of Jaipur.
A lifelike wax sculpture of the legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was unveiled. Encouraged by the response and armed with the dream of creating a one-of-its-kind museum, Mr. Srivastava teamed with several other like-minded people. A skilled team of architects, technicians, designers etc. restored the fort and the interiors were adapted to create an attraction that would add yet another crown jewel to Rajasthan Tourism.
Several days of ingenious restoration, 32 wax exhibits – each installed with a unique set and a skillfully polished fortress later, the museum is here to enthrall its visitors.
The museum has segregated its attractions based on different themes and displayed it in the Shastraagaar and Vishraamghar sections of the Nahargarh Fort. The entryway to the museum features a 10 foot long bullet bike called Gati Gamini that is inspired by Rajasthan Tourism.
The museum tour begins at the ‘Hall of Icons’ where visitors can marvel at lifelike exhibits of iconic personalities like national heroes, celebrities, sports stars and cinema stars. Each exhibit is complete with a detailed backdrop or intricately designed sets.
Jaipur Wax Museum for Kids
The hall of icons also contains a special section for kids where they can meet their favourite characters like Spiderman, Ironman, Doraemon and Nobita. Come and experience a slice of your favourite icons’ life – make memories with their wax and silicon sculptures displayed in the most relevant, relatable and memorable settings.
Rajasthan Tourism would be incomplete without a taste of royalty.
The ground floor of the Vishraamghar (warrior’s rest area) within the Nahargarh Fort has been re-designed to resemble a charming royal courtroom from the 18th century. Aptly named The Royal Darbar, this grand courtroom displays wax and silicon statues of Rajasthan’s royal lineage of Maharajas and Maharanis in traditional costumes. Visitors are also welcome to enjoy other features like traditional paintings, antique artefacts, a royal buggy and interactive statues.
The Royal Darbar also holds a special exhibit called ‘The Journey of the Jaipur Gemstone.’ Follow the evolution of these precious heirlooms through the past few centuries, showcased in a display of real gems at the JWM.
The One Minute Maharaja at Wax Museum, Jaipur
What’s more? Grab your chance to be ‘The One Minute Maharaja’ – your shot at experiencing a life of royalty in full costume and real lifelike settings.
The grandest and the most exquisite exhibit of the Jaipur Wax museum has been artfully installed at the top floor of the Vishramghar. This area has been redesigned into a magnificent mirrorwork splendor – The Sheesh Mahal. The Sheesh Mahal has thikri mirror work, a craft that dates back many centuries. This enthralling mirror work has been put together by over 100 skilled craftsmen working day and night and displays nothing less than 2.5 million glass pieces to create spectacular optical illusions.
With real gold and gem artwork, stunning crystal chandeliers and other precious trinkets this ‘Palace of Mirrors’ is a sight to behold!
Another eye-catching feature of the museum is its well-stocked souvenir shop. The shop is built like a treasure chest, and is structurally the biggest treasure chest in India – a metaphor for the beautiful gifts you can take home to your loved ones that they are sure to treasure.
