Jaipur : Rains turn the scorching afternoon into a pleasant evening

On Monday, the weather witnessed too many ups and downs in the temperature. Many places in the state witnessed a scorching afternoon and later saw moderate showers and dust storms in the evening. Moderate showers were a sigh of relief for the people as earlier in the day they experienced a hot afternoon. Churu was the hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 42.8°C, as the Indian Meteorological Department (MET) reports stated.

In spite of cloudy conditions in the state, the majority of places witnessed a hot afternoon. Meanwhile, in the evening many places in the state witnessed a dust storm which was followed by moderate rainfall.

Sheo in Barmer received a rainfall of around 60 mm which is a rare sight in the month of May. Similarly, many places in the western and eastern Rajasthan witnessed rainfall around 10 mm to 20 mm. Answering to the facts of the rainfall, dust storm and active western disturbances, Jaipur MET office stated that similar conditions will prevail in the state for the next 24 hours. Many places in the state are still likely to experience dust storm, hail storms, and rainfall.

Earlier in the day, Jaipurites woke experienced a warmer morning with a minimum temperature of 29°C, almost 3 degrees above the recorded normal notch. Later in the afternoon, a maximum temperature of 40.3°C was recorded. However, the evening became pleasant when almost every locality in the city witnessed scattered rainfall. The traffic got chaotic due to the water-logging. Traffic jams were witnessed at various places like Statue Circle, MD circle, JLN Marg and many other main areas in the city.
