Jaipur Development Authority sets up City’s highest 55ft. tall Arjun idol at SMS Stadium Jaipur to show respect to Rajasthan’s sportsperson Arjuna.
Showing respect and encouragement to sports persons,
Rajasthan government has built and put up a 55-feet high sculpture of Arjuna at East gate of SMS Stadium Jaipur (Sawai Man Singh Stadium).
It is said to be the highest statue in Jaipur and 2nd highest statue in Rajasthan.
Artists and Architects had given their best to carve the idol and make it as lively as possible.
About Rs. 2.5 crore was spent by Jaipur Development Authority on this statue
and was put up before the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit in November 2015.
Including base 30 feet high, the Arjuna statue in Jaipur is 55 feet high and
it is short of 57 feet highest statue of Maharana Pratap in Udaipur Rajasthan.
Designer and sculpturist Anoop Bartaria, who was the Cheif architect of World Trade Park, Jaipur is supervising this project.
The contract of making this Statue was given to Babulal Naraniya and Artist Rajkumar for carving
and making it as life like as possible.
For encouraging and admiring sportspersons who have brought name and fame for the state in their sports,
An Art Gallery is also built behind the statue of Arjun in Jaipur.
The gallery has 17 blocks with sculptures displaying different sports.
Each block will be having the name of sportsperson who brought accolades for the state of Rajasthan.
This will not just show respect for the sportsperson who have achieved something and
made us proud but also encourage other sports person to bring fame for the state by excelling in their sport.
The sculpture is made up of Astdhatu and weighs around 20 tons.
The Statue of Arjuna has a shape of concentrating and taking aim with his bow and arrow.
There are fountains on the platform.
