The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will launch the long-pending Durgapura elevated road project on 19th December 2015 after conducting a successful load test on Saturday 12 december.
Malviya National Institute of Technology was responsible to conduct the load test.
An official informed that the elevated road will be tested as per the Indian Road Congress standards. The Load was given on the elevated road for 24 hours. After that the experts examined the structure. The Durgapura elevated road will be launched on the second anniversary of the BJP government.

In view of the fact that the width of the Tonk Road is specifically narrow in comparison to the rest of the road and existence of religious places & commercial establishments, it was decided to take up construction of 4 lane Elevated Road , 1.1 Km long at Durgapura while taking up BRTS project in this section with stipulated time of 18 months in April 2008. The works were sanctioned alongwith BRTS Package-II works. After withdrawal of the BRTS package-II from JnNURM and abandoning of the remaining works sanctioned under this package, these works are being completed by JDA funds.
The work order for this work was awarded to M/s Neeraj Cement & Structurals Ltd. on 16.04.2008 alongwith other BRTS package IIB works, for Rs. 104.42 Cr. (component of Elevated Road Rs. 38.0 Cr appox.). After incorporating provision for metro at 2nd tier , now the estimated cost of completion of the project is Rs. 66.0 Cr. The Elevated Road has 52 Spans comprising of 273 individual segments of 15.70 m width out of which 93 have been casted till July 2014.
The Project has been delayed due to changes in design for accommodating Metro on 2nd tier, shifting / making provision for bypassing of services falling in project alignment, delay in grant of permission for activities disrupting traffic and various contractual issues.
The Project of Durgapura Elevated Road is completed and is launching on 19th December.
On operalization of the Elevated Road , the traffic situation in this reach of the Tonk road will improve to vast magnitude. The additional availability of 4 lanes for through to & fro traffic will not only facilate the through traffic but also greatly reduce the at-grade traffic in this reach. The air pollution will also reduce appreciably. Due to removal of this bottleneck, the Tonk Road traffic will improve as on whole.
