Nine Dot Squares stands to recognize, use and promote the Indian craft skills in a global context and make it desirable to the world. The initiative aims to create an accessible platform for the artisan, the academic, the design professional, the product developer and the design enthusiast.

In the second edition, the event intervenes into the space of sustainable practices in construction, Bamboo being the primary focus. The aim is to project bamboo in a modern context and to explore this material as a viable alternate construction material.

The highlights for Edition#2 are:

❏     Chai & Chat Sessions: Casual and Intense talks on various design subjects with experts like Vibhor Sogani,  Ayush Kasliwal, Mitch Crites, Aman Nath, Sandeep Sangaru, Alex Davis, Lekha Washington, Arzan Khambatta and Meghna Ajit

❏     Installations: Installations are a crucial part of exhibiting modern and innovative designs. The event will incorporate installations by Navayu, Pawan Bhatt, Hansraj, Pranav Vashisht Megha Bhatnagar and Gaurav Bhatnagar

❏     Craft Trails –A walk to discover and appreciate some lesser known and almost forgotten craft traditions of the walled city of Jaipur.

❏     Trends Lounge –  Durbar Hall with fresco-covered arches, stained-glass transom windows and magnificent arches stages serves as a perfect setting to demonstrate the amalgamation of the ancient wisdom of our design heritage with the current design vocabulary

❏     Exhibition – A dedicated area for handpicked exclusive design and craft brands like Jaipur Rugs, Bathline, Trunk & Co, Bamboo Greens, Anantaya etc to exhibit their innovative creations

❏     Bamboo – Focus on sustainable practices in construction, this time Bamboo will be one of the main elements. The aim is to project bamboo in a modern context and to explore this material as a viable alternate construction material.

❏     Startup Pavillion – A section where young minds will get an opportunity to share their concept and products. The participants are Studio Decube (furniture & design); Tejas Soni Design (home décor products); Amitansh Thinking Studio (concrete products); Saswata Design Studio (products and lights); Studio Asao (ceramic pottery) to name  a few

❏     Oral and Visual Craft Tradition:With techniques that are artistically and visually stimulating, craftsmen will be showcasing Indian traditions such as Kathputli, Pasmina Kani Shawl Weaving and rangoli making by award winning artist Rahul Swami

❏     Live Art & Craft – The event will witness live activities like carpet weaving (also known as Singing the Rug) where one artist sings rhythmic chants that allowed weavers to both remember patterns and reproduce them as frequently as required.
