Then, under the supervision of Shri Mehtab Chandra, the project was guided and supervised with his creativity to lead a development of the stunning place. Identical to the Grauman’s Chinese Movie Theatre in Hollywood, California, it certainly lives up to its image as one of the most remarkable cinemas in India.
Look at the Architecture of Raj Mandir Cinema
This opulent cinema appears like a huge strawberry cake, with a meringue auditorium and a portico somewhere between a temple and Disneyland. It took round about ten years to construct this massive entertainment spot. Architect W.M. Namjoshi designed Raj Mandir in a spectacular modern art style. It’s prodigious look, and elegant style imparts a glimpse of the fusion of swish and modern architecture. The place leaves everyone charmed with the exterior of the building consist of various asymmetrical shapes, Zigzags, Curves, and stars set into the façade. The cinema hall name is located on top of the building in large neon letters and boasts the legendary line “The Showplace of the Nation – Experience the Excellence.”

The main hall is decorated with velvet-draped curtains, and it still has that old culture of raising purdah before beginning the film.
